Lightning Rolling Thunder Tour Comes To Sarasota

Tampa Bay Lightning's fan event will stop at Selby Five Points Park on Saturday. They will also make a stop at Lakewood Ranch Main Street.

The Tampa Bay Lightning's fan tour will bring the thunder to Selby Five Points Park on Saturday.

The Rolling Thunder fan event features activities and entertainment for all ages, and will help celebrate the team's 20th anniversary. The event is scheduled to run 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event includes interactive games, appearances by the Lightning Girls, ThunderBug and Lightning personalities.

Due to the National Hockey League owners' lockout, no players are permitted to be promoted or be asked to attend team events. The NHL and the players union, National Hockey League Players Association, are expected to talk Friday to continue to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement in hopes that the season will start on time, TSN.ca reports. All pre-season games have been canceled so far. The regular season is set to start Oct. 11.

Some Lightning players have signed contracts in European leagues to find work during the work stoppage while others are paying for their own ice time at Brandon Ice Sports Forum, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rolling Thunder tour will also be at Lakewood Ranch's Music on Main on Oct. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m.
