Hope on the Horizon for Sarasota/Bradenton Weather

Sarasota/Bradenton residents feeling like they’re trapped in Bill Murray’s “Groundhog Day” when it comes to weather only have to hang on a few more weeks to see a change in the carbon copy forecasts the area has been getting.

While yet another week of afternoon and evening storms with highs in the 90s is predicted, forecasters at the National Weather Service’s Ruskin office say a break in the cycle is only about a month away.

“We will get a change somewhere around Oct. 15,” says meteorologist Ernie Jillson. That’s roughly when the first dip in overnight temperatures to around the 60s is likely to appear.

Since this is Florida, however, Jillson says the impending relief from the heat might not be a constant in October, but fall is coming.

What about the here and now?

Jillson says the week of Sept. 16 will feel a whole lot like “Groundhog Day.”

“It’s really not going to be much change all week,” he says. “Every afternoon there’s a pretty good chance of showers and thunderstorms.”

Expect highs in the low to mid-90s with lows in the 70s, too.
