Noted for its architecture and historical importance to Sarasota, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art was established from the winter estate of John Ringling of Ringling Brothers Circus fame. Sarasota was a long-time home of the circus during the winter months and in 1911, the Ringlings purchased the estate which today houses not only the museum, but also the Ca d'Zan mansion and Asolo Repertory Theater. The museum carries many fine examples of Old Masters such as Reubens, Velazquez, Titian, Tintoretto, El Greco and many more. It also features regularly changing special exhibitions. Please be sure to visit the Circus Museum while you are there.
