Adoptable Pet of the Week

Adoptable Cat of the Week: Emma

Emma is not only great with people, but is friendly with nice dogs, too.

Hello, my name is Emma! I am very social and talkative girl who was brought to the Humane Society shelter because someone in my family was allergic to my dander. I must admit having friendships with other felines isn’t really my thing, yet I can get along with a small, friendly dog. I'm just that way. But nothing beats human companionship. I do have a lot to say, if you have a moment, stop by to say hi.  I may be just the cat for you!

Staffordshire Terrier Is A Double Diamond Of Joy

Diamond II is available for adoption at the Humane Society.

My name's Diamond II, and I'm a beautiful American Staffordshire Terrier mix girl. I am a returning alumna of Humane Society of Sarasota. Originally, I was brought here because that family just had a new baby, and couldn't keep up with both a new addition and caring for me.  I was adopted out, but then had to come back due to the health of someone in the family. The folks here say I'm the best dog ever!  I love people and know a lot of commands; I'm very treat motivated. I'm also a fit dog with 99 pounds of love! I'll need to go home with a family with children at least 8 years of age or older because I'd just be too strong for little ones.  I really, really hope my next home is forever. Please make my dream come true!

Abby Still In Search Of That Forever Home

Abby is looking for that perfect Sarasota home.

Hello, I'm Abby. You may recognize me on Patch from October, and Christmas came and gone and I'm still without a home. I'm hoping that one will come before Valentine's Day. The good news is that all my kittens have found homes, though. See, I came to the Humane Society of Sarasota when the landlord told my previous companion that they couldn't have pets in their apartment. If you would like a companion that can keep you on your toes, that would be me. I have lots of beauty and charisma, too. I am always up for fun and games, and I love to explore!  The next place I'm looking to explore is a nice home and a comfortable lap.

Adoptable Dog of the Week: Blitzen

Blitzen is one merry dog who is looking for a forever home.

Hi, I'm Blitzen - no relation to the famous reindeer (I get that all the time).  I am a Labrador Retriever mix that weighs 48 pounds.  I am a I've had a rocky start in life.  My litter mates and I were all adopted from the Humane Society last year, and I don't know why, but I'm back.  I tried so hard—I love people and want nothing in life other than to be with someone, doing everything you want to do. Maybe because I'm not real comfortable around other dogs, but I'm learning. (There are certainly a lot of dogs here to practice with!)  There are some wonderful people here that are helping me on that, and I would love to find a forever mom or dad that would continue with this.  My dream home, though, is one that has just me and you - no dogs…

Please come see me at the Humane Society if I am the right girl for you!

Dog of the Week: Harpo

Harpo can't wait to follow your command to come home with you.

My name is Harpo, I am the happiest, most bubbly, bulldog mix ever. When you ask me to sit, I do it immediately and with enthusiasm, tail wagging all the time. If you ask me to go "down", I hit the deck, tail wagging.  And look at the picture—I have a permanent smile. You can’t help but smile back.  I am a high energy dog, and will need an owner that can keep up—I am no couch potato!  I went to my first Manners class at the Humane Society, and had a blast.  Keep up the training, and I will be fabulous!

Cat of the Week: Virgil

Virgil is a shy kitty looking for a home in time for the holidays.

Hi my name is Virgil. I am a handsome, lovable kitty that is very sociable with all kinds of animals.  My owner was unable to keep me and my brother Dante because she had too many pets. So we were brought to the Humane Society in hopes of finding a home. My brother has since been adopted, so I am here by myself. I was a little shy at first but now that I am getting use to my surroundings I am finding my confidence. I am eager to meet you and hope you’ll find it in your heart to take me home.

Dog Of The Week: Barbie Wants To Play

Barbie is a doll of a terrier mix and is looking to be adopted from the Humane Society.

Hi, I'm Barbie!  I am a popular Terrier mix that weighs in at 19 pounds.  I'm very active and try to keep my girlish figure. I would be best suited with a family with children over 6 years old and love social outings. Maybe we can play dress-up like that other popular Barbie—I just want to be pampered! I am playful, affectionate, and jumpy.  Please come down to the Humane Society and see if I am the girl for you.
