North Trail BB&T Bank Robbed

Suspect was seen in a silver two-door car leaving the scene.

Sarasota Police are asking the public to help identify the suspect of a Thursday morning BB&T bank robbery on the North Trail. The bank, 3201 N. Tamiami Trail, was robbed at 10:05 a.m. today, according to police, and implied to the teller he had a weapon, then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was seen driving what's believed to be a silver two-door Toyota Solara with a sun roof. The suspect is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 170 pounds and believed to be in his 40s.   Police released surveillance images of the man from the bank robbery and he was also is seen leaving the Walmart Neighborhood Market near the bank as well in another piece of footage. Man Surrenders To SWAT Team For Bank Of America Robbery

John Samuel Gay, 57 is facing an armed robbery charge and was due to appear in court Thursday for a another case.

A 57-year-old Gulf Gate man is in jail today after surrending to the Sarasota County Sheriff's SWAT team for a bank robbery. The sheriff's office arrested John Samuel Gay, for Wednesday's robbery at the Bank Of America, 6525 South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. Deputies responding to the alarm at 2:31 p.m., were able to identify Gay as the suspect and received information that he had returned to his apartment in the 6300 block of Gateway Avenue, according to the sheriff's office. A perimeter was established but the suspect refused to come out of his home. Woman Charged For Robbing Fruitville Road Bank Of America

Jennifer Gallo is being held without bond after facing a bank robbery charge.

A 43-year-old woman is facing a bank robbery charge Wednesday after witnesses say she robbed the Bank of America Fruitville Road around 2 p.m. Witnesses told the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office that a short woman wearing all black entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding cash and claiming someone was forcing her to rob the bank. She then fled the bank on foot. While inside the bank, the suspect, Jennifer Rene Gallo, of no permanent address, told the teller that she was being watched and if she didn't give her the money, somebody would shoot her, according to the probable cause affidavit. Wells Fargo Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Quick work by the sheriff's office led to the arrest of a Wells Fargo Bank robbery suspect.

A suspected Wells Fargo bank robber didn't get away for long Tuesday in Sarasota. Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies arrested John Velasquez, 58, for robbing the Wells Fargo bank at 6076 North Lockwood Ridge Road. The robbery happened shortly before 5 p.m. and Velasquez was found about two hours later at a nearby homeless camp on 59th Street and Parkridge Circle, according to the sheriff's office. Witnesses to the robbery told authorities that a white male with a "distinctive tattoo" on his neck that read "Pamela" entered the Wells Fargo, implied he had a weapon and demanded cash.  The K-9 unit and sheriff's office helicopter unit deployed to canvass the area along with road patrol setting up a perimeter, and Velasquez was spotted leaving …

Suspects In SunTrust Bank Robbery Arrested

Matthew Marquez is charged with armed robbery for three bank robberies.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has made two arrests in connection with the robbery of SunTrust Bank on Gantt Road on Monday that led to charges to two other bank robberies. Acting on an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip, detectives determined Matthew Marquez, 30, 2058 17th St., Sarasota, robbed the bank, and that Cara Ruhnke, 28, of the same address, drove him to and from the scene. Marquez is charged with Armed Robbery and Ruhnke is charged with Accessory to Armed Robbery, according to the sheriff’s office. Marquez told investigators that the man in the surveillance footage does look similar to him, but denied the bank robbery, according to the probable cause affidavit. Suspect was last seen running southbound across Clark Road from the bank at 5727 Gannt Road.

Investigators hope that the public can identify a SunTrust Bank robber through surveillance photographs released today. A Palmer Ranch Suntrust Bank, 5727 Gantt Road, was robbed at 2:15 p.m. Monday, June 4 when a man entered the branch and brandished a knife demanding money from a teller, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money. He was last seen running southbound across Clark Road, according to the sheriff's office. Suspect Arrested In Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

A Texas man wanted for a Palmer Ranch bank robbery and robberies in three other states is facing charges by Sarasota County authorities.

A Texas man wanted for a Palmer Ranch bank robbery and robberies in three other states is facing charges by Sarasota County authorities. Michael Aldridge, 39, of 5509 Westcreek Drive, Fort Worth, Texas, is charged by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office for one count of bank robbery. He was wanted in connection with the Wells Fargo Bank robbery on May 11 at 8595 S. Tamiami Trail. Aldridge was arrested on a battery charge in Lee County on May 25 and remains in custody there until the FBI will transfer him to Jacksonville where he is wanted for at least one other bank robbery, and could face federal charges, according to the sheriff's office. Police Search For SunTrust Bank Robbery Suspect

The Sun Trust Bank on Fruitville Road was robbed Thursday, just a day after a woman was robbed at the Bank of America ATM down the street.

Sarasota Police have released surveillance footage of a SunTrust robbery suspect who robbed the bank Thursday. The robbery happened approximately 4 p.m. Thursday at the bank at 3577 Fruitville Road, just a day after a woman was robbed at the Bank of America ATM Wednesday on Fruitville Road. Though the suspect concealed his face with a mask, he matches a description to the Bank of America suspect. He is believed to be a white, male, with his age estimated as being in his 20s or 30s. Deputies Searching for Armed Banked Robber

Around 1pm Monday, the Sheriff's Office said there was an armed robbery at the Fifth Third Bank at University and Tuttle.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bank robbery that happened around 1pm, Monday at the Fifth Third Bank, 6265 North Tuttle Avenue. Deputies said the suspect entered the bank, threatened a teller with a semi-automatic firearm and fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect is described as a black male, 5’ 11” tall, about 165 pounds, wearing dark clothes, a fedora and a dark cloth covering his face, according to the Sheriff's Office.
