Bronze Sculpture Stolen From Ringling Museum

John and Mable Ringling Museum Of Art is asking for the return of the sculpture "Endogenae" to the museum.

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art suffered an Election Day art heist and today officials are asking for the return of the bronze sculpture. Museum officials announced Thursday morning that sculpture Endogenae was cut from its pedestal and removed from the museum grounds and the theft was reported to Sarasota Police on Tuesday. The 20th century bronze sculpture was completed by American Artist A. Arlie Sinaiko, who died in 1984. “Endogenae has long been on display on the Museum grounds and this theft is unprecedented,” said Steven High, executive director for The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. “The work was damaged when it was taken and so has no acceptable value. Pool Cleaner Charged With Bronze Bird Statue Theft

Detectives recovered $8,500 worth of bronze bird statues and are trying to find their rightful owner.

If you own a bronze sculpture, you might want to check your yard to make sure it's still there. The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has recovered more brozne lawn statues than reported and wants area residents to check to see if their statues have been stolen. Ron Flynn of the Siesta Key Association is one of those victims of statue theft. During the Sept. 6 association meeting Flynn flashed a photo of his bronze crane sculptures during the meeting, informing Sgt. Scott Osborne about how his $2,000 sculptures were sawed off from the base. Now folks like Flynn will hope to see their statues recovered.
