About 420 residents and businesses are without water near the Sarasota Square Mall due to the break. Traffic is being detoured.
Updated June 10, 10p.m. A water main break Sunday morning has closed Beneva Road from Sarasota Square Boulevard to U.S. 41, according to Sarasota County Utilities. About 420 residents and businesses had water service restored after hours of work and are under a precautionary boil advisory. The road is expected to remain close through Thursday. Traffic is being detoured south on Sarasota Square Boulevard. Among those affected were: • The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods nursing home; • the Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods retirement community, includung the Inn assisted living facilty; • residents of the Pine Tree Acres neighborhood and a number of businesses.
Saturday's race over the Ringling Bridge to Bird Key will cause traffic disruption during the race.
Saturday's New Balance Ringling Bridge Run IX will cause some road detours and closures as racers sprint across the bridge and downtown. The four-mile run starts at 7:30 a.m. Pre-race staging and other activities will be held in the parking lot of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall from 6:30 – 11:00 a.m. The following street closures and traffic disruptions will occur Saturday 7 to 9:30 a.m: • U.S. 41 from 10th Street to Gulfstream Avenue will experience slowdowns due to the closure of southbound lanes.
