Intruder Burglarizes Marietta Museum of Art And Whimsy

The suspect broke into the North Trail museum and removed two items from the back porch during an art heist at the Sarasota museum Sunday.

Sarasota Police are looking for a man who broke into the Marietta Museum of Art and Whimsy early Sunday morning and stole two pieces of art. Police responded to the museum Sunday afternoon when the museum's owner, Marietta Lee, discovered that the museum was broken into and burglarized in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 24, according to an incident report from the Sarasota Police. The suspect stole a pink terracotta wall sconce featuring an angel spreading its wings, valued at $150, according to the report. A blue crab replica, valued at $10, was removed from a table but was found at the south gate of the museum, according to the report.
