Summer is here, and everybody's looking for something new to do. What better time to revisit the best local hot spots in Sarasota? Until Aug. 17, we're collecting votes for Readers' Choice 2012 in 25 categories, from who has the best Mexican food in town to which zoo is the best in the Tampa Bay area. Voting will begin July 23. When I suggested Mexican to some friends who lived in Colorado there was a definite hesitation before agreement. After all Colorado has some of the finest Mexican restaurants. Since then my friends have returned a number of times to El Toro Bravo. Why?
Not your typical Mexican restaurant, El Toro Bravo has individual charm, a Southwest Mexican theme, and really tasty homemade food. Located in a small strip mall on Stickey Point Road just before it turns into Clark Road, one can easily pass it by. However, if you are an aficionado of Mexican cuisine, this would be a mistake. A small restaurant frequented by regulars, with a simple, colorful décor, and an extensive well priced menu, El Toro Bravo is sure to please gastronomically and economically.
