Sarasota City Manager Resigns
Mayor Suzanne Atwell asks City Manager Robert Bartolotta to submit resignation effective immediately. Terry Lewis, Marlon Brown considered for interim post.
This story has been updated. It took three votes on a motion, but in the end City Manager Robert Bartolotta was out Tuesday. The City Commission voted 4-1 to accept Bartolotta's immediate resignation. Theyvote included allowing him to buy into a health care plan at his expense and for the city to spend up to $10,000 in legal fees for outside counsel for Bartolotta. Vice-Mayor Terry Turner cast the lone vote against his resignation. The subject was brought up by Mayor Suzanne Atwell at the start of the commission meeting. "We cannot aford months of living under a cloud of uncertainty," she said. "I am seeking a management change."
